The water balance calculator will make it easy for you to determine what steps to take to balance the water chemistry in your pool or spa.
Pool and spa professionals may prefer to use the Langelier Saturation Index calculator, which assesses whether the water is corrosive, properly balanced or scale-forming.
Using the water balance calculator:
- To use the balance calculator, you should first check the water with a test strip and write down the results.
- Next, make sure you know the water volume (in gallons). If you aren’t sure about the volume, start by using the volume calculator. It will enable you to estimate the volume of your pool or spa based on the length, width and average depth.
- If you know the water volume in liters, use the liters-to-gallons calculator. Then you’ll be ready to proceed to the water balance calculator.
Using the Langelier Saturation Index calculator:
- First you need to measure the water temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, using the temperature at which you routinely maintain the water.
- Next, use your AquaChek test strips to measure the following parameters:
- pH
- Total alkalinity
- Total hardness
- TDS (total dissolved solids)
- Cyanuric acid (if there is cyanuric acid in the pool or spa)
Write down the test results and enter them into the calculator.
